PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF NURSING
INFORMATICS CONSULTANTS:

Informatics Consultants:
The Nursing Informatics Consultant works under the supervision
of the Director of Information Systems. The Nursing Informatics
Consultant is responsible for leading the planning, development,
implementation, and maintenance of clinical information systems.
The Nursing Informatics Consultant will actively participate in
the change management process and work collaboratively with others
to identify opportunities for work process improvement in conjunction
with clinical IT systems. The Nursing Informatics Consultant will
use their clinical expertise and informatics knowledge in this
position to help to ensure that information technology is consistent
with professional standards of clinical practice. The Nursing
Informatics Consultant performs other duties as assigned. The
Nursing Informatics Consultant requires a BSN or a Masters degree
in Nursing Informatics; The Nursing Informatics Consultants should
have five years experience in a hospital-based nursing practice.
Nursing Informatics Consultants should have experience with the
implementation and support of clinical IT projects preferred.
Nursing Informatics Consultants should have excellent written
and verbal skills. Nursing Informatics Consultants should have
excellent personal computing skills in word processing, spreadsheets,
presentation software, and project management software.
Nursing
Informatics Consultants:
Nursing Informatics Consultants will be responsible for health
care clinical application systems. Nursing Informatics Consultants
will serve as a resource and liaison between Nursing Management
and Information System Department. Nursing Informatics Consultants
will participate in the analysis, modification, training and
problem resolution for new clinical applications systems. Nursing
Informatics Consultants will participate in the planning and
coordination of clinical information system projects. Nursing
Informatics Consultants will be involved in the planing for
systems selections, implementation, and systems integrations
training and support. Nursing Informatics Consultants must demonstrate
strong leadership skills with direct interface with clinical
departments, applications and service vendors for additional
IT resources. Nursing Informatics Consultants requirements:
Nursing License, Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a Computer
Science degree is beneficial. Minimum of 1-2 experience in Informatics
Systems with hospital experience required.
